This national heroes (the statues are found in Gaborone) are the three founding fathers of the nation. When hostilities broke out between the Tswana people of Bechuanaland (former name of Botswana) and other tribes from Southern Africa migrating into Bechuanaland, those three gentlemen (Khama III, Sebele I and Bathoen I) travelled to the UK to ask for help.
