Although Karo had an amazing time in South Africa, she had to admit that so far, she had only been in touch with the white farming community. Although Apartheid (the racial segragation of South Africans) had officially ended 1994, it seemed to be still very present. In each town Karo passed, she woud find a rich area (mainly populated by whites) and a poor area “Township” (inhabitated by the black community).
